Your Instructor
Founder of Drum Your Way School of Rhythm, Robert Hensley is known in California, Hawaii, Iowa and Colorado for his dedication and skills as a drummer and teacher. Robert greatest passion is creating rhythms and inspiration for dancers to fully express their primal joy. As the founder of Tribal Fire Drums band, he leads many events in San Diego, including the popular Trilogy Sanctuary full moon ceremony, and ecstatic events at Eve Encinitas. He has performed and taught West African drumming for the last 20 years. His greatest learning opportunities were 3 years with master drummers Madou Dembele, Fara Tolno, Monette Marino, and grand master Mamady Keita. In 2007, Robert conceived, financed, and cofounded Rhythm Reference, the complete library of drum parts for 50 popular West African rhythms. Now as the founder of Drum Your Way School of Rhythm, his main focus is teaching drummers to create safe, inspiring events for dancers to fully express their innate and suppressed joys. Many people have been deeply touched and transformed by Robert's offerings, and this is what drives his continued efforts to teach and market the Drum Your Way School.
